Fresh Start: Care for Your Body

Today, we have some helpful tips from our neighbors at WildRoots Salon & Studio. Wildroots believes true beauty, health, and wellness starts within and reflects out. We asked Carli Schmaling, owner of WildRoots, to share something for the New Year that she finds is important to your health and in your life. These outward cares can help with your balance of inward and outward calm and relaxation.

New Year health and wellness tip from WildRoots Salon & Studio:

Our feet take us everywhere we need to go and they do so much hard work for us. Taking care of your feet can mean more to your overall care than you may think.

Did you know…

– When walking, each time your heel lifts off the ground it forces the toes to carry half of your body weight.

– The foot and ankle consist of 26 bones, 33 joints, and 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

– Your foot consist of  25% of the muscles in your body and if you don’t take care of them, it’s the equivalent to not working your upper body.

– Woman have 4x more foot problems as men.  High heels are to blame.

A good New Year resolution is to start taking care of your feet.  Paying attention to your feet can help prevent expensive and long-term issues in the future.  Pedicures and foot soaks are a good place to start. They will help protect your feet, minimize swelling, stop dryness and itching, and release endorphins.

Another tip: indulge yourself in body treatments now and then. Many of us often fear to indulge ourselves in things such as facials, massages, acupuncture and more. But giving yourself a moment every now and then to relax and focus on your body and mind can help in numerous ways. When you’ve taken a moment to care for your well-being, it can effect the way you handle everyday stresses, treat those around you and help you be productive and effective. (Budget an issue? When you can, set money aside gradually to save up so you can give yourself a day of relaxation.)
